Planer Molders
It is considered best practice in producing high quality flooring to first skip plane the rough boards. This allows an appraisal of the potential finished sides for defect, color and grain pattern that is the hall mark of extreme high quality.
Because the Pinheiro flooring machines are planer molders and not just molders they are fully capable of handling this rough planing application even when faced with antique and very rough sawn wood. In addition with the bottom head first configuration, Pinheiro machines are able to skip plane wide rough boards without cracking them. The flooring machine can then be set up for the finish pass and are capable of producing an excellent finished product.

Ripsaws
The Pinheiro ripsaws are also ideally suited for the production of wide plank flooring. With the optional single moving saw these flooring machines can produce two straight line ripped parallel edges in a single pass. This is extremely important in the production of wide plank flooring. With a maximum distance between the fixed and the moving saw of 9-1/2" on the AMA 300 and 15-1/2" on the AMA 450 most wide plank material can be run in one pass. Because both AMA series allows for wider material to be passed through the saw even wider material can be straight lined one edge at a time when necessary.
